car description

This Mercedes Benz 300 Sc Convertible of the W188 series is not only a very rare vehicle, with only 49 units produced, but also a true jewel on four wheels.

With its unique owner history as the former property of Hans Werner Aufrecht, the renowned founder of AMG and HWA, this vehicle takes on a special significance.

Since its delivery in Stuttgart in 1957, the convertible in the classy Pearl Grey (DB125) paint with its black leather interior has not been restored and 67 years later still finds itself in an incredible condition and mostly still in its first paint!

In 2017, HWA arranged for an appraisal to be carried out, which gave the car a grade of 2 and a replacement value of € 910.000 It is probably one of the best-preserved 300 SC Convertibles ever.

Every detail of this vehicle tells a story and offers a glimpse into the glorious past of automotive craftsmanship. A truly timeless masterpiece that will make the hearts of classic car enthusiasts beat faster.

History of the series

The Mercedes W 188 series was presented to the public in October 1951 at the Paris Motor Show. In 1955, the model series, which consisted of a coupe, convertible and roadster, was then revised and renamed the 300 Sc. In addition to plenty of chrome trim, an elaborate fuel injection system was installed, giving the car a powerful 175 hp. A distinctive feature is the inscription "EINSPRITZMOTOR" on the rear bumper.

Despite technical and optical improvements, only 200 units of all three body variants of the 300 Sc were produced. Production of the 300 Sc series ended in April 1958. The reasons for this development can certainly be attributed to a certain extent to the appearance of the 300 SL Roadster, which probably represented the more attractive offer for many potentially interested parties - after all, despite its more contemporary design and increased performance, it was 4,000 DM cheaper and successful in racing.

Both versions, the 300 S and the 300 Sc, are among the most exclusive Mercedes-Benz passenger car models of the post-war period and are today, along with the 300 SL, particularly sought-after collectors' cars.
